Genethia Hudley Hayes
Genethia Hudley Hayes’ career with the Los Angeles Unified School District spanned five years. She was a classroom teacher with the Child Development Division as well as a curriculum enrichment specialist. After leaving the Los Angeles Unified School District, she spent another five years as the principal of Holy Nativity School, an Episcopal Day School in Inglewood, California. While there, she developed, in conjunction with Dr. Madeline Hunter of UCLA, an accelerated elementary and middle school curriculum for the African American learner.
Genethia Hayes has served on numerous community boards including the Education Consortium of Greater Los Angeles, and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Los Angeles. She served as the Executive Director of SCLC, and Executive Vice President of Martin Luther King Los Angeles, MLKLA, the nonprofit, tax exempt, social service arm of SCLC. Mrs. Hayes provided leadership, policy, and vision for all programmatic and advocacy efforts of the dual agency.
Mrs. Hayes is currently the President of the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education.
